If You Need To Make A New Benefits Claim?

Before you make a new claim for benefits, you must check if you’re eligible and what you can get if you live:

• in England, Scotland and Wales
• in Northern Ireland

You may also need to book and attend an interview at your local Jobcentre Plus Office. You’ll be told if you need to do this after you apply.

You’ll get your first payment around 5 weeks after applying online if your application is successful. When you apply, you can ask for an advance if you need help sooner.
