If You are a local employer
We work with local authorities, training providers, and private and voluntary sector organisations all over The UK and together they can access databases of thousands of customers. But if you’re looking to cast the net wider to find the right person remember that vacancies registered via Employer Direct are automatically displayed on the Directgov website and accessible on every self-service Job point in Jobcentres across the UK. Your vacancies can even be advertised internationally – we work with other Government employment agencies across the EU.
Matching and screening
Every Jobcentre has a Labour Market Recruitment Adviser, or LMRA, to help you save time and resources with your recruitment: for example advice on preparing your vacancy for display, conditions in the local labour market, pre-interviewing candidates, or sifting CVs and application forms.
Finding a venue can be the most expensive factor in your recruitment. With us, it’s free of charge. Some Jobcentres have fully-equipped employer suites – London Bridge and Peckham. We also have access to similar facilities on the premises of our main contracted training providers around the South Bank area.
Try before you buy
Our Work Trial service offers you a risk-free way to try out a potential employee for up to 30 days – at no cost to your business. Previously Work Trials were only open to people who had been unemployed for six months or more. Now we can offer this opportunity from Day One of unemployment. You can use them not just for individual interviews but for group sessions and induction events – and we can help you deliver your Powerpoint or DVD presentations. It’s just a phone call away.
£1000 cashback on a new recruit
This could make your next recruitment decision an easy one - if you take on a person who has been claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA) for six months or more we can offer you the Recruitment Subsidy - a payment of £1000 (£500 on appointment and £500 after six months). And if you’re looking for more than one person, there’s no limit to the number of eligible employees you can claim it for. There are thousands of eligible candidates across Southwark. Over the past few months, our Jobcentre advisers have been informing them about the Recruitment Subsidy and encouraging them to tell you about it on their CVs, application forms, and at job interviews.
